Clean Undee's????????

Well the Goats all packed, his bike is here......The Baron! Who knows....I guess he'll be riding a "Toys-R-Us" Tri-flyer. The weathers looking good for the up coming Mini-camp. I'm going to try to have the truck load when I roll up to DIA, so we can book miles ASAP! Goat wants to go to the Hills but I think some long flat miles in the warm sunshine will do those boys some good. Plus I don't want anybody to see me riding with a group of guys with "Wee Willy White Legs"....Got to work on "The Tan" too Don't Ya Know. I'm jack to really books some miles too......Should be a great time.

We'll just see who Cracks, Blows Chunks and Cries like a litte girl first? Who-ya gone a lay money no sucker?

It was a rest day for me, so off the Beaver Creek for some sweet turns! It been dump'n. Fresh, Fresh, Freshy on the mountain. Its was one those day when you know you should stop (because your Tie Tie) But you can't........The snow is sooooo SWEET right now.

Well I better wash my bike peep's coming and I need to look good in my new kit! I wonder if Goat remenber to pack clean undee's? The Baron? Who knows......He'll just have his wife handle it!

Same Old Song and Dance

If was a very nice Easter….The weather was great (about 70deg and sunny) so Sandy and I when for a ride. We rode out and around Cherry creek to REI which has a Starbuck attached. As Sandy said on the ride it was “Family Day”. As she pointed out every guy was deck out in full team kit with his Wife or Girlfriend in tow in just plan bike gear….After she pointed that out it was pretty fun. But it was a nice day to log some easy miles and work on my tan.

Got a cool new backpack for the pup at REI, his really into it and the best thing is now he can carry his own stuff when we go hiking. It was funny watching him play Frisbee with it on. He looks like some kind of “red cross dog”.
I got a nice fat check from my Mom for my up coming birthday. That sweet! So I went out and blew it on a MP3 play. Man that thing is great for zoning out and just hammering on the bike. Should have got one years ago. I have been down loading music like mad. All the great classics like the OZ man, Led Zeppelin and alike. Can’t wait to hammer some hills with it…….

And way, Happy Birthday GOAT! You old F@#ker!

I've only been able to get in a short ride every other day for the past week, but hell who could help themself's? I plan to ride hard today and rest for Sat. race.....then it will be GO Time! I going to go until I blow chuncks, at least that is the plan. I wounder what Goat is doing right now?

Crying towels are a nickel!

As the “Big headed” one would say! Crying towels are a nickel! And I’ll need a truck load next week. I was hoping to get more hill work in but ski fun is getting in the way of my bike fun.

Me plan was to not race until June but the lure is calling me like Medusa. I’ve sign up to do a circuit race this Saturday. Maybe it will give me an idea of my fitness level. I feel strong on the bike but I have ridden with a group to gauge it lately. My coach wants me to sit in for the first halve then attack every 5 min.s for the second halve until I get dropped or break away. It’s all part of being more aggressive. Which I like, but having the fitness to back it up is the problem. But I the way they put it “It’s all part of learning to control the race. So, I’m game with the plan.

Well back to something important, like nothing!

Let it SNOW.......

This morning was a gas, it started snowing yesterday about 3:30 and just kept coming! 11” on the ground a 5:00am this morning and com’m down in buckets. So it was recovery tracks (was to do a recovery ride this morning but with all the snow, SCREW that!)

This weekend I went out to do some climbing in the mountains and to sign the paper for the new pad. My new place is right on Red Mountain, so I took the Cross bike for some good climbing…….I’m really jazzed to move, Long road climbs, lots of single track for mountain biking and the best Cross trail to be had. It’s like a biker paradise. I got up early Saturday and when on a 2 hour grind up the side of Lookout. Ouch! I hope Goat bring a hanky with him because there will be lots of crying going on at our little training camp! And it won’t be me doing the crying! (How’s that for trash talk?) Then went snowboarding in the afternoon. Then Sunday it was back up the mountain for another pain-fest. I’m going to make myself into a climber if it’s the last thing I do! Of course I need to lose some more weight. I hoping to be in the 155 range by July (another 10 to drop) which might be impossible, but necessary. I can’t keep trying to pull this “fat-ass” around.
But with all the fresh snow who can think about biking? Wax’m up and point’m DOWNHILL baby! I wonder what Goat is doing right now?

To be a working stiff........

Well it dumping out….so I’m putting the bike away to do a little powder skiing. But I think I’m going to take my Cross Bike and do some hill climbs up the gulch. We got 8” last night and it’s still coming down hard. You have to love a POWDER day. It’s so peaceful and the best part its Friday so there won’t be too many working stiffs on the mountain. The only problem to day is where to go? Copper, Vail, Beaver Creek or Drive to Aspen….Life’s full of tough chooses……I wonder what the Merkman is doing rigth now?

Damm Goat!

I broke my record last night and rode the trainer INDOORS! Man. Did that suck. It’s been an over a year. But, it’s been cold and with all the snow on the ground I wimped out. 1-1/5 hour going nowhere. Boring, boring, and mind-numbing. The last 15 min I almost went out of my gored. I’m laying this at the feet of GOAT! The next time he washes, works, fixes, tinkers, wipes or cleans even just one grain of dirt off his road bike I’m flying to Wisco to kick his @$$! The dude jinxed my streak. I’m thinking he’ll have to pace the Baron and me up Evans until he blows chunks. That should teach him. The guy got some Voodoo crap with that thing! It’s a little better today but I’ll still have to wear leg warmers it only 50deg. How am I going to work on my TAN with leg warmers on? &^%&%
Got a new place to live......It's in Glenwood. The best part is I've got the Red Mountain right out my backdoor and some great roads to train on right out my Front door. O-well back to whatever I was doing..........nothing :)

Working on my Biker Tan!

Well it was about 70deg today when I started out and now its about to SNOW! It is a good thing I took my arm warmers this morning when I took off on my ride....It was Blue Sky and Sunny, then at about 3:30 it got ugly. O-well, I was going to race tomorrow but forget that! I left around 11:00 am for a nice long ride. I thought I'd do some re-con work up into the mountains for the Wisco Boys. Man, did I under estimate the wind today. It was a grunt to the foothills with a 20mph wind out of the north, but it was warm and it felt good. I must have pushed it hard because once it started up the canyon things got bad. I'm about halfway up Deer Creek Canyon and I started hurting. No Problem I whipped out a Owalla Bar, didn't help! Downed my secret "Go Juice", didn't help. I got to the park and turned it around. The problem was I'm still 40miles (The bad News)from home........But only 20 from Starbucks (The Good News)! My salvation! So I limp uptown (about to puke the whole way) for some Expresso and a Owalla Bar.

Well I see Goat is working on his road bike. That's why the temp drop like a stone! HELL IS FREEZING OVER!!!!!!!! The guy hasn't put a chain on it or clean it in 5 years. What the %^$(%)
Whats the world coming to?

Well maybe I will race tomorrow.........

Sex, Skiing or Biking?????

I can’t decide what I like better, Sex, Skiing or Biking! I guess that order looks pretty good.

Well I just got an e-mail from some Bro’s back home in Wisco. They are coming out to ride in the first week in April. Should be a good time. The plan is to ride up Mt Evans from Bergan Park or Idaho Springs. If we start in Idaho Springs it’s 28 miles to the summit with a total vertical of 7,526’ to the summit at 14,264’, the highest road in the lower 48. But, I was thinking we could start a Bergan Park and add 8 miles to the summit. The verticals are about the same just ads some miles. 36 miles up, up and away. I scoped out the ride should be good. Took this pic of the backside of Evans from Guanella Pass (11,669’) looks good! Yea Baby! I know they’ll love it. Then do some good base miles around the front range in the warm sunshine........

Just got back from another backcountry trip. It’s really hard to take. Ski, Eat, Sleep and Ski some more. The snow was good. On the first day we climbed to the summit of Pearl Mountain. It was windy, so we dug a snow pit for lunch and enjoyed the views. You could see all the way to Crest Butte. The dude in the yellow jacket stacked it up on the last day and had to get 48 stitches in his face to close a laceration. Mad it was ugly.

Well, I guess I’m unretired for now. I started working with these guys out in Vail this week. So, it’s back to the grid! Yea, right! I’m moving out there and the end of April until then I’ll be drive there a couple of times a week. Life’s a bitch sometimes. It just better not interfere with my fun time or I might just have to retire again…

I'm hurt'n today!

I know you feel sorry for me, but hay I hurt! My coach as me doing leg speed workouts. They want me to improve my lumbering tree trunks. They tell me I'm too big to be a Climber, too Heavy to be a TT dude and too Slow to be Sprinter. I should just give up! Hell No! I've got good leg strength but have to get lighter and build legs speed. Another 9lbs. And some leg speed and I'll be set for the season. So I've beed doing these cadence drill, so far I can only hold a 120rpm with a final sprint in the low 130's........O-well. It will get there.

I've got to get out and ride this morning it's b/c this afternoon I've got another meeting in Vail and have to look at a house in Redcliff, It's right around the corner from Gilman. Home sweet home! Plus I've got another ski race and Hut trip that I've got to get ready for. So time is wasting. Can't wait......I wonder what Goat is doing right now?

My new socks........

Can you dig'm? Not as cool as the white ones, But they go with my kit and the chic's love'm. After much screwing around this morning. I hit the road....I've been finishing up with school and applying for another swing at it. Hell I'm not working so I might as well get some lear'n. Maybe I could learn to write and spell too. Thinking about a Masters in Environmental Engineering. Just about to publish my paper so I'll be done with this degree, so why not get another, and another an another.........

Back to my sock, don't you love them?

I did the Bear Creek Canyon loop today. Its about 80 miles with some nice climbing in the middle. One with about 2000 ver. I'm schedule to do 4x12 tempo efforts today. Which worked out very nicely with this loop.
Just as I was completing my warm up, I see this guy with a pile of Crappies and Walleye coming up the road.

So I stop, he was coming up from the dam. The town opened up the dam and thousands of fish are stuck in the spillway. "You can net as many as you want" he says. I almost turned around and got my net from home.....Maybe tomorrow.

Right after my first set, guess what...FLAT. It wouldn't be a ride without one. I'm getting good at changing a tube. Its becoming an interval for me. 70 seconds is my record too date.

Yes those a catus! Now you know why I'm fixing flats all the time. The funniest thing happened about ten miles from home. I turned this corner in time to see a girl stack-it-up. She was talking on her cellphone, ride her bike and couldn't handle the corner. I laughed my ass off all the way home. Couldn't get my camera out fast enough to get a picture of it, but it sure put a smile on my face. Why is someone taking a digger so funny? I would have love to been on the other end of that call. "You know what that bitch said to me?" CRASH..."Hello, Hello....can you hear me now?"

After the ride it was playtime with the dog, some coffee and a hot shower.........Life is good.

Let the biker tan begin!!!!

I talked with my Ski bud back in Wisco last night, he just got back from a left coast ski trip. They've been getting dump on out there. So it was "Face Shot" city. He said the skiing was still good in Wisco and should hold out for a couple more weeks.

Well it's about 55deg with clear blue......Heading up to 60. So, I'll be heading out for a nice 4 plus hour ride today.....Talk to you later

What to do?

Ski? Bike? or maybe nothing.......How about sking? With 2 mounths left in the season I think it best to get as many ski days in as possible. So this morning I'm heading back to the high country. I got another backcountry trip this weekend too. So, I'll only get three bike days in this week and I'll next the first Swab Training race....O-well, I'll just get some more miles in before the next one.
