Trail reports...

My riding buddy..

So what’s a Guy to do after skiing 6 days straight? Go biking in the desert that’s what….with temp in the 70’s and blue skies why not. I thought it would be nice to give the Kokopelli trail a shot. Everybody’s always talking about it “It’s Epic, it’s the best, blab, blab blab” and like most thing that are “So Cool” it sucked. The first mile or two from the Mack exit are okay but once you start to drop off the Mesa into Rabbit Valley it sucks! It's like mountain climbing with a bicycle. After about two hour of that BS I gave into the fact it was a BS trail and turned around. I actually rode the RR tracks back to the Climb out of the Valley (and when I say Climb, I’m mean Climb……and not on a Bike) and if you a willing to ride RR track you know the trail sucks! Once back on the “Troy Built” it was a lot nicer……we were riding and that’s always nice if you have a bike with you. One thing I’ve learned is never believe the trail reports on MTBR.com they are so full of BS or some local Doper from Fruita or from Moab …….You can take this to the Bank…The Kokopelli Trail Sucks! If you’re not hiking, you’re riding in sand!
All was not lost I still got a good 3 plus on Mr Bigg up and around Mack……

So if someone tell you they've biked the Kokopelli trail with a Bob Trailer from Mack to Moab. Tell'm they are full of BullShit!

It's later

The Warm-up....

In the gate

The start...

Sandy sprint start....

Well, I have sometime today, so I thought I’d update my Blog…..To recap last weekend. I really got smoked! Some bad luck and no legs speed endurance left me in the vapor trail. The TT was awesome, bike was dialed legs felt good, but my time sucked. Going off later in the day was worth 2 min.s The wind pickup and so did the times. But I was still happy with my ride even if I was sitting in the 70’s…..Sandy smoked the course but was give a 7 min time penalty for running out of order. That took her from 3rd to 40th or something? But we both were just there for the warm weather and sun. So it wasn’t that big of a deal. The road race was a lot harder then I anticipated. It started out good. I was able to get into an early move but it got suck back on the 2 second lap and then I got shelled on the last climb. My legs just aren’t used to spinning 90plus for 2 hour yet. I just couldn't hang with the climbers when they started hammering the front. Sandy had a great race coming in 8th.
Sundays Crit was a smoker! and I was still smoked from the RR . Out of the GC I wasn’t going to get into the "mix it up" in the Crit throwing elbows and chopping wheels. I just hung the outside in the top 10, then got out of the way of the sprint…….Sandy on the other hand lay’d down. Hammering the front challenged every prime and then gave a great sprint. But all that early work hurt in the end…..All in all a great race……we are putting it on the "Must do list" for next year!

Next up THE GILA!

I had a little time....so

I been threaten to post pic’s of “Mr. Bigg” for weeks now but the move into the new double wide in the hills has been occupying a lot of my time. Ok, so it not a double wide but 16’x16’ shed…..just call me Ted.

……I’m re-working the down-tube graphics. The new graphics are going to be just a white lettering in place of the Gray/Red/Black. I’m working on getting a Web page built with more stuff on the bike and other crap I’ll be selling. Like wheels sets etc……

But that will take a little bit of time….I can’t over work myself……..If you have any interest in a frame the base frame and fork is $380.00 plus shipping. You can get any color you want as long as it’s black. In 16”, 18” and 20” (I’ll post up the frame dim a little later)……O-yea, I almost forgot you get a seat post too…that’s the sizzle in the steak. But my dance card is filling up quick……drop me a line if you need more 411…but it's a 1x1 29er, Disc only....Cr-Mo 4310 frame. No fairy crap here just a stout bike!

I'm also building a 26" frame for you old school Dudes....

The new world powers…..Wal-Mart and Starbucks

It was nice to read the Barons take on Wal-Mart…..a lot I can agree with…..I to hate Wal-Mart. With that said I'm starting to lump Starbuck into that category also. Why? Because they are everywhere! They just put one in the F’n Target store by me and there’s one down valley in the “Red-Neck” town of Rifle. That right “Rifle” and can't get more “Red” then a town named Rifle, CO! It’s a place where a Chevy ¾ ton dually with truck nut’z is consider a family car......back to the point. Starbucks has lost all its cache in my book and has joined the rank of over blown America.

Well, I’m finally in the new dwelling and shop…..the only problem is I don’t have Cable, Phone, Fax, Internet ……..I have to load the Laptop up on the Fix’y and scam a hook-up and the local Java-Hut. I feel cut off from the world……O-well I’ll just go do 30k on the XC ski and forget about it………

God’s Country!

There’s nothing like blue, blue sky and light fresh Colorado snow…..Today I got nothing done but lots accomplished. Now how can you do that you ask. Well it dumped last night and the sun was blazing the blue sky. How could it be any better? It’s really what life is all about……It’s what I live for…….You see it’s all about me and the self gratification of me. It’s why I get up I the morning….I ski because it makes me happy…..I ride because it makes me happy…..I masturbate because it makes me happy……see the pattern? I think you do. So I accomplish a lot but get nothing tangible done other then making myself happy…..and isn’t that what life’s all about?

Well ok maybe it’s not all about , but it could be…

Life ups and downs….

It hasn’t snowed in a day or two, so I’ve been able to get some work done. This move is turning into a bigger job then I thought at first. Trying to get everything organized is a pain in the ass…big hopefully it will be all worth it. The new place is a little bigger and has a crazy driveway that more like a bobsled run right now then a driveway.

I’ve got a 70% ratio of success so far without stacking it up or getting stuck. There no way UPS is going to make it up that thing……I’m just hoping U-haul has a 4x4 moving truck I can rent this weekend….The plan is to ride Saturday (my last big ride before the VOS race) and finish the new TT bike. Then move all my crap Sunday…..Anybody what to help? Baron I hear you are an expert at this kind on thing…

I don’t have too much to move……

I’m feeling a little tired, I need to go hang out at Starbucks for a hour or two…….

My upload in on the download

For some reason my upload has been working for shnits the weekend. So just a quick note….after hit the fresh on Friday. We headed west to the warm sunshine. The plan was to go to Gateway but we didn't make it that far. The roads in and around the “Colorado National” looked so sweet and they are about an hour west of base camp. The loop is a Colorado Classic and part of the film “Breaking Away” and the old “Coors Classic”. We did a about 75 miles with some 6500’ vertical in windless 60deg sunshine. The park was awesome; I think I counted 4 pro-teams riding in and around the park…….I think we'll have to add this one to the team camp schedule, but we have to add some more ver for the hurt.......

Sunday I did my best to ignore the “Super toilet Bowl” (I didn't even know the winner until this morning) and worked over at the “New Shop” in the morning, then did some skiing off the backside of Sun Shine peak in the afternoon……It's so much bigger. I can't wait to actually get some work done…

The big dump....

Tue night......11"
Wed night.....10"
Thru night.....6"
And still com'n down.......

So we loaded up the snow wagon and head up to Willson Peak for some morning face shots! There's nothing like a face full of snow in the morning......

Yes I know with only two weeks until the VOS race I should be riding but who could pass up snow like this I ask you? Who? Beside I'm heading over to Gateway this weekend to ride the canyon.....65deg and sunny is the out look and the roads are so sweet out there.....

The new TT bike is almost done so I'll be able to bank some miles on it before heading to Phoenix…..back to moving……my back hurts!

Coming out.....

A great western CO MTB trail web site......Check it out

Downtown.......

Well I’m pack’n up the wagon, circling the horses and haul’ner out of here….It funny how life works sometimes but, when I moved into this place I thought I’d live in it until my house was finished. (This should be late this year or early 07) That’s never how things work. Right? Well my present place started sliding down the mountain and from what I understand it’s not that uncommon here. So they been trying to stabilize it and square it back up. So you can image the amount of construction going on here. Too much for me. For example today a guy drove a core drilling machine through my patio window. So I’m pack’ner up and moving into a new place (well maybe not new but different). Along with the new shop its been a very busy couple of weeks.
